CartPatt
Family grocery lists, synced.
About
CartPatt keeps your family's groceries in sync. Know what's already been bought and what's about to run out — and check with your family before you buy, so nothing gets purchased twice. Share one list, check off items as you shop, and see your family's buying patterns over time.
Getting started
Create a family
Sign up with your email, Google, or Apple account. The first time you open CartPatt you're asked to name your family — that name is just a label, and you can change it later in Settings.
Invite your family
Open Settings → Invite a family member. You can share an invite link, which opens CartPatt for whoever receives it, or copy the 8-character invite code and send it however you like. A family holds up to 6 members for free.
Join with an invite code
Open the invite link you were sent. If you are not signed in yet, CartPatt remembers the code, takes you through signing in or creating your account, and then brings you straight back to the invite — you never have to type the code yourself. If you only have the code, tap Join a family and enter it. Codes are not case-sensitive, and they never contain the look-alike letters I, L, O or U.
How CartPatt works
One shared list
Everyone in the family sees the same list. Add what you need, and tick items off as you put them in the cart — your family sees the tick straight away, so nobody buys the milk twice. When you're done, tap Finish and the trip is filed in your history.
Tracking and running-low nudges
Turn on Track this item when you add something you buy regularly, like milk or eggs. After you've bought it a couple of times, CartPatt learns roughly how long it lasts and shows a running-low nudge before you're out. You can stop tracking an item at any time in Stats; your purchase history stays.
Calendar
The Calendar tab shows finished shopping trips, day by day, with who bought what. Only finished trips appear there, so today's list stays in one place.
Shopping reminders
In Settings you can set a weekly reminder for your usual shopping day. It's a notification from your phone, set on your device — so it still arrives when you have no connection.
Troubleshooting
Notifications don't arrive
- Check that notifications are allowed for CartPatt in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings → Apps → CartPatt → Notifications; Android: Settings → Apps → CartPatt → Notifications).
- Open CartPatt → Settings and check the reminder is switched on and set to the day and time you expect.
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone, so they stop if the app is uninstalled or the phone is reset. Setting the reminder again restores it.
Using CartPatt offline
You can still open your list without a connection: it shows what was loaded last. Some changes are saved on your phone and sent automatically once you're back online.
Saved on your phone, sent later:
- Adding an item to the list
- Ticking an item off, or unticking it
- Finishing a shopping trip
Sharing an invite link or copying your family's invite code also works offline — the code is already on your phone.
Needs a connection:
- Removing or editing an item
- Joining a family, or leaving one
- Renaming your family, changing your colour or your profile picture
These changes are not saved for later. Reconnect and try again.
The list won't refresh when I pull down
- Check that you're online.
- Update CartPatt from the App Store or Google Play. Version 1.1.0 or later keeps your family's names and photos in sync on the list.
- Signing out deletes changes that haven't been sent yet. Before you sign out, take a screenshot of your list, or note down what you added or ticked off.
- Then sign out (Settings → Sign out), sign back in, and re-enter anything from your note that's missing.
Leaving a family
Open Settings and tap Leave under your family's name. Your account stays. The shared list and its history stay with the family for the members who remain, but you will no longer see that family's shopping history or stats, and any items you marked Just for me are deleted.
If you are the last member, leaving deletes the family and everything in it — the list, its history and its stats. That cannot be undone, so CartPatt asks you to confirm first.
Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account removes your account and your data. This cannot be undone, and it needs a connection.
